BASKIN-ROBBINS DELIVERS 5,280 SMILES IN TORONTO REGION ON VICTORIA DAY WEEKEND WITH FIRST POLAR PIZZA POP-UP FOOD TRUCK

Toronto, Ontario, June 14 2017 – The signs of summer got a savoury addition this Victoria Day weekend with the launch of the first Baskin-Robbins Polar Pizza Food Truck, a three-day initiative that allowed the company’s brand ambassadors to personally deliver 5,280 slices of Cookies ‘N Cream and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Polar Pizza, free, in the Greater Toronto Area.

“Ice cream brightens every day,” said Natalie Joseph, representative for Baskin-Robbins Canada. “We decided that hitting the streets to share some of our ice cream treats with thousands of people, especially with the arrival of summer and the much needed warmer weather, was the right thing to do. We reminded consumers that our shops are open and ready to help them enjoy the summer.”

The tour, which started on May 19, “National Pizza Party Day”, included stops in areas like Downtown Toronto, Kensington Market, Trinity Bellwoods Park and Mississauga. It was also the symbolic start of a new phase for Baskin-Robbins Canada. The company is looking to expand its presence in Canada.

“There’s a deep feeling of springtime in our Canadian ice cream shops and for the brand in Canada,” said Joseph. “Most of our shops are beautifully remodelled, our franchise partners are committed as ever to their communities and our flavour experts continue to demonstrate creativity and skill in offering consumers the best ice cream flavours and treats. It’s a great time to come into one of our shops to taste the fun!”

The brand launched warm cookie ice cream sandwiches and the popular Polar Pizza ice cream treat in 2016 to very positive reviews.

“Polar Pizza is a combination of two of the most popular indulgences in our society,” said Joseph. “Ice cream and pizza. Whether you’re sampling it with your family or as part of a celebration with your team, it’s the perfect treat for a group.”

To wrap up the Victoria Day initiative, Baskin-Robbins Canada delivered close to 1000 slices of Polar Pizza ice cream treats to various Boys and Girls Club of Canada locations across the GTA.
